Taktyl Support Centre
Getting started
Set up Taktyl after you sign up
: Four short steps: you, your organisation, your security, then Launch.
Find your way around Taktyl
: What Taktyl is for, and what the menu on the left and the bar along the top do.
Make your first activity, from a blank page to a link
: Create an activity, add a quiz to it, try it, publish it and copy its link.
Your dashboard
: Pick up your recent work, start a new activity or interaction, and open your folders.
Building activities
Inside an activity: the header, the tabs and Home
: What each part of an activity's screen does, and how to undo a change.
Pages, the cover and the finish screen
: Add pages to an activity, put them in order, and set up its first and last screens.
Content pages: text, pictures, video, audio, notes and tables
: Put plain content between your interactions, and mark words written in another language.
Make and edit an interaction
: Start a new interaction, find your way round its editor, and see which activities use it.
Quizzes and questions
: Add questions to a quiz, set the right answers, points and feedback, and try each one.
Flashcards, Matching, Memory game, Crossword and Word search
: The five word games are built from one list of terms and their definitions.
Explore types, interactive video, branching scenarios and self-check
: Build content to look through, a video with stops, a case where each choice leads somewhere, or a self-check.
Scoring, attempts and when an activity is open
: Choose when an activity opens and closes, what counts toward the score, how many attempts students get, a pass mark, and when they see the answers.
Keep your work in folders
: Make folders on My activities, move activities and interactions into them, and delete a folder you no longer need.
The Bin: bring back something you deleted
: What goes to the Bin, how to restore it, and how long it stays.
Sharing with students
Publish an activity, and what students see after a change
: Publishing makes a version students can open. Your edits wait until you publish again.
Share an activity: a link, an embed or a QR code
: Copy the activity's link, put it inside another page, or print a QR code. Choose live or frozen.
Preview an activity as a student
: Try the whole activity, or one interaction, exactly as students meet it. Nothing is saved.
Notifications and the bell
: What the number on the bell means, and what Invitations, Alerts and Feedback hold.
Embed an activity on a website
: Paste an activity's link into WordPress, Drupal or another site and it shows the activity.
Your LMS
Connect Canvas
: Link your Canvas to Taktyl in two steps, so teachers can add activities to their courses and marks go to the gradebook.
Connect your LMS with a registration address
: Paste one address into Canvas, Moodle, Brightspace or another LMS, and it registers Taktyl itself.
Connect Moodle, Blackboard, Brightspace or another LMS
: Add Taktyl to your LMS as an LTI 1.3 tool, then type the LMS's details into Taktyl.
Check or disconnect an LMS connection
: See whether a connection is working, and what happens when you disconnect it.
Add a Taktyl activity to your LMS course
: Pick an activity from inside your course, choose whether it sends scores, and add it.
How students arrive from your LMS, and how marks reach the gradebook
: Your LMS signs students in for you, and a finished attempt sends a submission or the score that counts to the gradebook.
Files, templates and themes
Your pictures, video and sound in the Asset library
: Add a file once, use it in any activity, and see where it is shown before you delete it.
Start from a template
: Make a new activity or interaction from a saved starting point, then change it as you like.
Save, edit and share templates
: Turn an activity or interaction into a template, then edit, tag, export or remove it.
Choose how your activities look
: See which theme students get, preview any theme, and pick one for a workspace, the organisation or one activity.
Make and edit a theme
: Start from Taktyl's theme or another one, then set its typefaces, corners and seven colours.
Suggest terms and questions from your notes
: Paste your notes and your organisation's own AI provider suggests terms or questions, which you check and add one at a time.
Describe a picture with your organisation's AI
: Your organisation's own AI writes a first description of a picture, which you read and change before it is saved.
Claude & ChatGPT
Build with Claude or ChatGPT
: Let Claude, ChatGPT or another AI app build draft activities in Taktyl for you, with your permissions. Also called an MCP connection.
Getting started with Claude or ChatGPT
: Start small: let your AI app look first, then make one draft, check it, and publish it yourself or ask the app to. Choose whether it sees your students' names.
AI connections for IT and developers
: For IT and developers: Taktyl's MCP servers, the OAuth sign-in, the limits, Claude Code, and every tool.
Students and results
See who has opened your activities
: The students list shows everyone who has opened an activity, how they came, and how much they have done.
See how students did: the Insights tab
: Scores, how far students got, the hardest questions and the most common wrong answers, for the activity, each interaction in it, and each student.
When a score does not reach the LMS gradebook
: Find the scores the LMS refused, see why, and send them again.
Your workspace and team
Your workspace overview
: See who works in the workspace you lead, and the role each person holds.
Add people to your workspace and change their role
: Bring somebody from your organisation into the workspace you lead, make them a leader, or take them out.
Your organisation
Your organisation at a glance
: The organisation Overview counts your workspaces, staff and students, and names who runs the organisation.
Invite people to your organisation
: Send one or many invitations, choose each person's role and workspaces, and follow the invitations still waiting.
Change a member's role, suspend or remove them
: Make somebody an admin, choose the workspaces they work in, suspend and restore them, or remove them from the organisation.
Merge two accounts of one person
: When one person has two Taktyl accounts, such as one their LMS made, make them one.
See your plan and ask for a bigger one
: Billing & usage shows your organisation's plan, what it uses, and the plans you can ask to move to.
Check your organisation's usage
: Usage shows each thing your plan counts as a meter, how much room is left, and what happens when one fills.
Download all your organisation's data
: Ask for a complete copy of everything your organisation holds in Taktyl, as one zip file, on any plan.
Read your data with the Data API
: Make a token so a reporting tool or a script can read your activities, usage and totals.
Send events to your own systems with webhooks
: Tell another system when an activity is published or an attempt is finished.
Sign your staff in with single sign-on
: Connect your SAML 2.0 or OpenID Connect provider so your staff sign in with the account they already use.
Require single sign-on
: Make your staff sign in through your provider and nothing else, with recovery administrators for the day it is down.
Keep staff accounts in step with SCIM
: Let your identity provider create, change and switch off your staff's Taktyl accounts.
Your account
Change your name or email address
: Your profile holds the name and email address Taktyl shows and writes to.
Sign in safely: password, second step and passkeys
: Change your password, add a second sign-in step with an app or email codes, and sign in with a passkey.
Send feedback and read the team's replies
: Tell the Taktyl team what is broken, what could be better or what you would like, and follow the conversation in Notifications.
Download your own data
: Save a file of everything Taktyl holds about you, at once, from the Danger zone.
Delete your account
: What happens to your sign-in and to your work when you delete your account, and how to do it.
When Taktyl asks you to accept the terms
: Why a box asks you to read and accept the Terms of Service or the Privacy Policy, and what to do.
Make your own API key
: A key for your own scripts that reads only what you can, and stops when you lose access.
Your Learner Hub: what you were given and what you have done
: Find the activities you were given, when each one closes, and your attempts and scores.
Use stock pictures and video
: Connect your own free key for Pexels, Unsplash, Pixabay or Coverr, then pick their pictures and video in any activity.
