Describe a picture with your organisation's AI
Your organisation's own AI writes a first description of a picture, which you read and change before it is saved.
Every picture in an activity needs a description, or a tick in Decorative: screen readers read the description out to people who cannot see the picture, and Publish stops while a picture has neither. Describe this picture writes a first one for you.
Taktyl has no AI account of its own. It uses your organisation's own AI provider account and key, the one connected for Suggest from notes. The picture itself is sent to that provider, under your organisation's account. Nothing about you or your students is sent with it.
Use it
- Choose a picture: in Edit details in the Asset library, or wherever an activity takes a picture (a content page, the cover, a question's media, a word card, a drag item).
- Press Describe this picture, under the box that asks you to describe it.
- Read what it wrote, and change it. You know why the picture is there; the AI only sees what is in it. "A full lecture theatre" may need to become "The accessible entrance, second door from the left".
- Save the way you always do. Nothing is saved until then.
It never ticks Decorative, and the button is not shown while a picture is marked Decorative.
When it cannot describe one
The button says why, in a sentence under it:
- Your organisation has not connected an AI provider yet, or is paused: ask an organisation admin.
- Switched off by your organisation admin: an organisation admin turns Describe this picture on and off in Organisation settings › AI features.
- Cannot read pictures: the connected model reads text only. An organisation admin can choose another model on Organisation › Integrations.
- On another website: a picture you linked from somewhere else is never fetched. Add it to your library first.
If the provider does not answer, nothing changes: try again, or write it yourself.
