See how students did: the Insights tab
Scores, how far students got, the hardest questions and the most common wrong answers, for the activity, each interaction in it, and each student.
The Insights tab shows how students did on an activity. Everything on it comes from what students actually did. Your own previews and anything staff do are never counted.
Open the activity and press Insights. Until a student answers something, it says No insights yet.
Find your way around
Insights has three levels: the activity, each interaction in it, and each student.
- The menu on the left lists the activity, then its interactions under Interactions. The number beside each is how many students answered it. Press the arrow at the top to shrink the menu to its icons, and again to open it. Taktyl remembers your choice on this device.
- The band at the top names where you are. Above the name, each step back up is a link. Beside the name, Switch opens a list of the others at the same level: the other activities in the workspace, the activity's other interactions, or the five students before and after this one.
- Four numbers sit in the band. For the activity: how many students took part and finished, the average of the score that counts (with how many passed, if there is a pass mark), attempts per student, and the median time from opening to finishing.
- Overview, Visualisations and Students are the three views, under the band. They stay at the top while you scroll.
Narrow it down
- Course shows one LMS course, or the activity's own link. All courses and links shows everything.
- Version shows one published version. It appears once there is more than one.
- Since shows All time, Last 7 days, Last 4 weeks, Last 8 weeks or Last 12 months.
Your choices stay in the page address, so a copied link opens the same view. They stay as you move between levels.
The activity
- Overview: In short (up to three plain facts worth knowing), How far they got (how many opened it, answered a page, finished, and passed), and Page by page: for each page, Right first time (answers right on the first try), how many Answered, and each question's Most common wrong answer, in the words students saw. Press Lowest first to put the hardest at the top. Press an interaction's name to open its level.
- Visualisations: Attempts each week, how many students got each score, How far they got, and Right first time, page by page. Press a page's bar to open its interaction.
- Students: each student's course, Score that counts, Attempts and Last attempt. When scores go to an LMS gradebook, a Gradebook column says Sent, Sending, Not sent or Not graded, and buttons above the list show just one of these. Search by name or email. Press a name to open that student's page.
If any scores did not reach the gradebook, a notice at the top of Overview and Students says how many and why. Press Retry (or Retry all) to send them again.
One interaction
Press an interaction in the menu. It counts this activity's attempts only, under the same choices.
- Overview: Question by question: Right first time, then the percentage Right, Wrong and Skipped of the attempts that reached it, and the most common wrong answer.
- Visualisations: How each question went (right, wrong and skipped, as one bar each) and Right first time, question by question.
- Students: everyone who answered it, from their latest attempt that reached it: how many questions they answered and got right, and the points.
Charts
Every chart on Visualisations is a card:
- Point at a bar, or move to it with the Tab key, to see its number.
- Press Table to see the same numbers as a table, and Chart to go back. Taktyl remembers your choice for each chart on this device.
- Press the star to keep a chart at the top. Your stars are yours alone, and they follow you to every activity (or every interaction) and to any computer. Press the star again to take it away.
One student
A student's page lists their attempts, newest first: when they started and finished, the time, the score, whether it reached the gradebook, and every answer they gave, with the right answer beside a wrong one. Opened from an interaction, it shows that interaction's answers only. It is read only: press Open in Review to give a mark and feedback.
Reports and downloads
Press Create report for a file of the view on your screen: the numbers in the band, then each of the view's tables, under your choices. Taktyl makes it in the background. When it is ready, press Create report again: your last five reports of the same view are listed there, newest first, with Create a new report at the foot. Only you can download your reports, for 7 days. The file is a CSV, which opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.
Press Download CSV for every attempt, one row each, with points, percent and gradebook state.
One interaction, everywhere it runs
An interaction has an Insights tab of its own, in its editor. It counts every activity that runs the interaction. It shows the attempts that reached it, the average score on it, and Question by question: the percentage Right, Wrong and Skipped, and the most common wrong answer.
