Connect Moodle, Blackboard, Brightspace or another LMS
Add Taktyl to your LMS as an LTI 1.3 tool, then type the LMS's details into Taktyl.
Taktyl works with any LMS that supports LTI 1.3. For Canvas, use Connect Canvas instead: it does most of the typing for you. For Moodle, Blackboard Learn, D2L Brightspace or another LMS, you add Taktyl in the LMS first, then tell Taktyl what the LMS gave you.
Most of these LMSs can also register Taktyl themselves from one address, with nothing to type back. Try that first: see Connect your LMS with a registration address. Use the steps below when your LMS has no box for it, or for Blackboard Learn when its registration does not finish.
You need to be an organisation admin in Taktyl, and you need someone who can register an LTI tool in your LMS.
Add Taktyl in your LMS
- Go to Organisation › Integrations.
- Find the card Taktyl's details for your LMS. It has three addresses, each with a Copy button:
- Login (OIDC initiation) URL
- Launch and redirect URL
- Public key set (JWKS) URL
- In your LMS, register a new LTI 1.3 tool and paste these addresses where it asks for them. Use the Launch and redirect URL for both the launch address and the redirect address.
- Save the tool. Your LMS now shows its own details for this tool. Keep that page open.
Type the LMS's details into Taktyl
- On Organisation › Integrations, press Connect another LMS.
- Choose your LMS from the list.
- Give the connection a Name if you like.
- Fill in what your LMS showed you:
- Issuer (platform ID), such as https://moodle.example.edu
- Client ID
- Deployment ID. Leave it empty to accept any deployment of this client.
- Authentication request URL
- Access token URL
- Public key set (JWKS) URL. This is the LMS's own key set, not Taktyl's.
- Press Connect.
The connection appears as a card with its issuer, Client ID and deployment IDs. Teachers can now add Taktyl activities from their courses.
If Taktyl refuses the details, it says why beside the field. Check each address against your LMS and try again.
