When a score does not reach the LMS gradebook
Find the scores the LMS refused, see why, and send them again.
When an activity in an LMS course sends scores or submissions, each finished attempt goes to the course gradebook. Now and then the LMS refuses one. The student's work is always saved in Taktyl: only the gradebook entry is missing.
How you find out
- A notification. The activity's author, its workspace's leaders and the organisation admins get one line saying a score did not reach the gradebook. You get one line per activity, not one per student, until you have seen it.
- The Insights tab. Open the activity and press Insights. A notice at the top says how many scores did not reach the gradebook, and why.
Common reasons
The notice gives the reason in words, such as:
- The LMS refused the score. Its assignment may be closed or deleted.
- The LMS refused the submission. Its assignment may be closed or deleted.
- The course has no gradebook column for this activity.
- Taktyl could not reach the LMS.
- The LMS connection is no longer set up.
Fix the cause in the LMS first, for example by reopening the assignment. If the connection itself is the problem, ask an organisation admin to look at Organisation › Integrations.
Send them again
- On the Insights tab, press Retry (or Retry all when there are several). Taktyl sends up to 50 at a time.
- A message says how many scores reached the gradebook, or how many still did not. If some still did not, check that the assignment is open in the LMS and try again.
To see who is affected, look at the Gradebook column in the students list at the bottom of the tab. Press Not sent above the list to show only those students. Sending means a score is on its way, and Sent means the LMS took it.
