# Flashcards, Matching, Memory game, Crossword and Word search > The five word games are built from one list of terms and their definitions. The five **Learn words** types all work the same way: you type a list of terms and what each one means, and the type turns it into a game. | Type | What students do | Marked? | |---|---|---| | **Flashcards** | Turn each card and say whether they knew it. | No | | **Matching** | Join each term to its definition. | A point for each pair | | **Memory game** | Turn cards over two at a time to find the pairs. | No | | **Crossword** | Fill a grid whose clues are your definitions. | A point for each word | | **Word search** | Find the terms hidden in a grid of letters. | No | ## Build the list 1. Make the interaction: for example, on **My activities** choose **Interactions**, then **New interaction**, then **Flashcards**. 2. Under **The word list**, type a **Term** and its **Definition** on each row. **Add a row** adds another, up to 50. 3. To give a row a picture, select its picture button, then type the picture's address and describe it. 4. Use the arrows on a row to move it, or the cross to delete it. A list keeps at least two rows. It saves by itself a moment after each change. ## The settings The panel on the right says how the game plays, and has one setting for some types: - **Flashcards**: **Shuffle the cards**, so each student gets their own order. - **Memory game**: **A pair is** either **A term and its definition** or **Two cards of the same term**. - **Word search**: **Words run** **Across and down**, or **Every way, backwards too**. **Crossword** and **Word search** use the first 20 terms. Their grid is built from the saved list each time it opens, and a crossword uses letters only. Select **Try it** to play it as a student, in a new tab.
