# Merge two accounts of one person > When one person has two Taktyl accounts, such as one their LMS made, make them one. Sometimes one person ends up with two Taktyl accounts: one their LMS made when they opened Taktyl from a course, and one they were invited with or that single sign-on made. You can merge the two into one. ## Merge them 1. Go to **Organisation › Members** and press **Merge two accounts**. 2. Type the address of **The account to keep**, and of **The account to merge into it**. 3. Press **See what moves**. Taktyl says who is kept, who is closed, and how many records move. Nothing has changed yet. 4. Press **Merge the accounts**. Everything the second account holds moves to the first: its activities and interactions, its students' answers and attempts, its LMS sign-ins, its place in your workspaces and its history. Where both accounts held the same place, the kept account keeps its own and takes the higher role. ## What happens to the other account It is closed and renamed, never deleted, so a merge can always be traced. Nobody can sign in to it. Its address becomes one the kept account answers to here, so single sign-on and SCIM find the kept account by either address. ## When you cannot merge - Both accounts must be in your organisation. - An account that also belongs to another organisation cannot be merged here. - You cannot merge your own account into another: ask another organisation admin. - You cannot merge an account whose role is above your own. - An organisation admin's account must be the one you keep. Every merge is in your organisation's audit log.
