# Make, rename and archive a workspace > Start a new workspace from the rail, rename one, choose where new members land, and archive or delete one you no longer use. A workspace groups activities and the people who make them. Organisation admins make, archive and delete workspaces. A workspace leader can rename the workspace they lead. ## Make a new workspace From any page: 1. Select the workspace card near the top of the rail. On a phone, open the menu first. 2. Choose **New workspace**. 3. Type its name under **Workspace name** and press **Create**, or press Enter. Taktyl makes it, moves you into it and opens its **Dashboard**. **Cancel** or Escape closes the box and makes nothing. If your plan has room for no more workspaces, Taktyl says so and nothing is made. You can also press **New workspace** on **Organisation › Workspaces**, which lists every workspace with its activities, members and leads. **All workspaces** in the rail's workspace menu opens that page. ## Rename a workspace - On **Organisation › Workspaces**, open a row's menu and choose **Rename workspace**. - Or, as its leader, open **Details** in the rail's workspace group, change **Workspace name** and press **Save changes**. The new name shows everywhere the workspace appears. Nothing else changes. A workspace is known by its name alone. ## Where new members land On **Organisation › Workspaces**, **Default workspace** says where people you invite to the organisation without a workspace land first. Press **Set default** or **Change** and choose one under **New members join**. ## Archive a workspace Archive a workspace you no longer use but may want back. Its students cannot open anything in it, launches from your LMS do not work, and its activities become read only. Their attempts are kept. 1. On **Organisation › Workspaces**, open its row's menu and choose **Archive workspace**. Or open **Details** inside it and press **Archive** under **Danger zone**. 2. Read the box and press **Archive workspace**. Archived workspaces are listed under **Archived** on **Organisation › Workspaces**, with when and by whom. They stay archived until you press **Restore** there, or **Restore workspace** on its **Details**. Nothing deletes them on their own. Your default workspace and your only workspace cannot be archived or deleted. ## Delete a workspace Deleting takes its activities with it, with their pages, interactions and every attempt, and its own files and templates. It does not go to the Bin, so it cannot be undone. Archive it instead if you might need it again. - On **Details** inside it, press **Delete** under **Danger zone**, type its name under **Type the workspace name to confirm**, and confirm. - Or, once it is archived, press **Delete** on its row under **Archived**.
