# Import a document with AI

> Your organisation's own AI provider reads a Word document or pasted text and suggests an activity's pages, quizzes and flashcards. You tick what to keep before anything is made.

**AI help with imports** turns a document you already have, such as lecture notes or a handout, into a draft activity. Your organisation's AI provider reads it and suggests pages: pages of text in the document's own words, quizzes and flashcards. Nothing is made until you tick the pages to keep and choose **Make**.

Taktyl has no AI account of its own. It uses your organisation's own AI provider account and key: your key, your credit. The document's words are sent to that provider, under your organisation's account, and nothing else is: not your name, and nothing about your students.

## Switch it on (organisation admins)

1. Connect **Your own AI provider** on **Organisation › Integrations** (see [Suggest terms and questions from your notes](/support/articles/ai-from-your-notes) for the steps).
2. In **Organisation settings › Features**, switch on **AI help with imports**. It is off until you do.

If the row says **Still needs your AI provider**, the provider is not connected, is disabled, or is switched off above it.

## Use it (authors)

1. On **My activities**, choose **Import**, then **Import a document with AI**.
2. Choose a Word document (.docx), a text file (.txt or .md) or a web page (.html), up to 10 MB, or paste the text. For a PDF, save it as Word first, or paste its text.
3. Press **Suggest pages**. Each suggested page is listed with the line of your document it came from.
4. Tick the pages to keep. A page whose line Taktyl cannot find in your document arrives unticked and says **Check this**.
5. Change the activity's title if you like, choose the folder, and press **Make**. You get one draft activity, which you can change like any other before you publish it.

If your AI provider does not answer, nothing is made: try again, or build the activity yourself. H5P and .taktyl files import as before, with or without this switch.
