# Add a Taktyl activity to your LMS course > Pick an activity from inside your course, choose whether it sends scores, and add it. Once your organisation has connected its LMS, you can add Taktyl activities to your courses without leaving the LMS. In Canvas you do it from a module (add an External Tool item) or from an assignment (choose External Tool as the submission type), then pick Taktyl. Your LMS opens a Taktyl window called **Add a Taktyl activity**. ## Pick the activity 1. On the left, open a folder. You see your organisation's activities, one workspace at a time. If there is more than one workspace, the others are listed at the bottom of the folder list. 2. Or type in **Search activities…** to look across every folder. 3. Press an activity to see it on the right. **Edit** and **Preview** open it in a new window. 4. Press **+** on the activity you want. It shows a tick, and its name appears at the bottom. Press **+** on another to change your choice. Where your LMS takes several at once, you can pick more than one, up to the number shown at the bottom. An activity marked **Linked in** your course is already in it. Adding it again makes a second link. Tick **Hide linked** to leave those out of the list. You can add the same activity to as many courses as you like. Each course keeps its own choices and its own gradebook column. If the activity is a **Draft**, students see a page saying it is not open yet until you publish it. ## Choose how it runs in your course On the right, for the activity you picked: - **Gradebook** is shown when you add the activity as an assignment. Choose one: - **Don't use the gradebook**: nothing goes to the gradebook. - **Send a submission**: when a student finishes, the gradebook gets a submission for you to mark. No score is sent. In Canvas, SpeedGrader opens the student's answers. You can choose this for any activity, even one that has a score. - **Send the score**: shown only for an activity with something marked in it. The score that counts goes to the gradebook. For a submission or a score, set the **Points** for the gradebook column. For a score, also choose the **Score that counts**: **Best attempt**, **Latest attempt** or **First attempt**. Added anywhere else in your course, such as a page, the activity sends nothing to the gradebook. - **Live** means your course gets each new version as soon as you publish it. Attempts already made keep their scores. - **Frozen at version** keeps your course on the version shown, even after you publish again. It is right for a test that must not change. It appears once the activity has been published. ## Add it Press **Add to** followed by your course's name. Taktyl hands your choice back to the LMS, which adds the link to your course. **Cancel** goes back to the LMS with nothing added. Need something new? **+ Create new activity** and **Open Taktyl** open Taktyl in a window of its own. Come back and pick it once it is made.
